3rd Birthday Bash - Hannah's 12th November 2010
The club's 3rd birthday was celebrated at Hannah's Indian Restaurant in Whitchurch. Some 68 members and partners enjoyed an excellent Indian Buffet. As well as the presentation of club awards there was
also a fun quiz by Simon Phillips and a prize raffle - thanks to all who contributed!
We were also treated to a yummy birthday cake courtesy of Jean Bancroft. Thanks, Jean.
Andy English, Hannah Rigby and Bob Wilson were the delighted winners in the draw for club places in the London Marathon. Someone will have to patiently explain to me why anyone wants to put themselves through the
torture that is Marathon training!! But good luck to them all.
Our Award winners were:
Most improved beginner: Christina Trevanion
Most improved male: Dave and Bob Wilson (joint award)
Most improved female:Maureen Whyte
Male who has best represented the club:Richard Stewart
Female who has best represented the club: Helen Robbins
Special Achievement: Andrew Corbett for his Ironman performance
Club Summer Handicap Presentation
Winner: Graham Jones
2nd Place:Brian Hickson
3rd Place: Maureen Whyte
I think we were finally kicked out of Hannahs by the chef at around one in the morning! A good night indeed.

Carrie's Farewell and Social Run 25th August 2008
South Cheshire Chip Butty Night September 2009
Whippets Birthday Party 14th November 2008
| It may look like we're trying to keep our hands warm over a single candle - but we were actually cutting the club's birthday cake. | |
 | Good job someone remembered we should photograph the award winners. Apologies to Andy and Jo who had already left. |
Whippets Summer Social 5th July 2008
| Curshaws, in Jubilee Park, was the venue for the club’s first Summer Social. Despite weddings and holidays, 18 people braved the summer showers to fill the upstairs Conservatory. | |
 | We even had our own game of musical chairs as it was only possible to fit in enough chairs for one less than the number present! Still, we are supposed to be a fit bunch. |
| Justice was done to the buffet but it was with regret that I watched the staff clear away the remnants. | |
 | Entertainment was provided by Australian singer/guitarist Cameron. Carrie had to be dragged out to her waiting taxi as he performed an accurate and stirring acoustic midnight rendition of Stairway to Heaven.
I left Simon Phillips and Jonathan Morgan drinking into the morning hours.
A good time was had by all. |
